Location: Golden, Colorado

Year: 2019

Project Type: Public Art

Size: 1,200 Square Feet

Golden, Colorado is positioned uniquely at a shift in the landscape where the great plains transition to the Rocky Mountains. The Golden Fault running along the North/South axis through town has created unique formations such as the Dakota Hogback which expose cross sections of bedrock or strata.

This piece is a gateway to the city portraying the transition from a horizontal to vertical landscape and the strata that is revealed in the landscapes upheaval. Composed of 30 corten steel channels which begin at the North end of the site and slowly rotate vertically at the South end creating a fan like animation of the geological forms that have developed in the surrounding area over time.
